Where Is The South African Economy Going?

It's hard being optimistic when you look at the South African economy. The economy is taking a beating. September, the Rand was 6% weaker to the U.S. Dollar. As a result, the JSE All Share Index, measured in US dollars, fell by more than 8% by the end of September. (The S&P 500 fell 2% in the same period according to ZAEconomist).

Foreign Direct Investment is difficult for the international opportunists to motivate because we can't provide steady electricity supply or/and our labour production is disrupted by strike action. Proposing a project in South Africa is becoming a career limiting move in the international investment fraternity!

So that FDI challenge and our equity markets performing worse than the less risky developed markets means we are on our own to grow this country.

This trend is not our friend, so we need to pull ourselves together instead of finger pointing and blaming!
