It was never going to be a simple lunch, seeing as my wife had booked the Harbour House restaurant in Kalk Bay. I have always enjoyed it there, their food is so tasty, the views from the restaurant a showoff piece of Cape Town, and the restaurant itself cosy, yet full of life and light. I always know it is going to be a treat going there, but yesterday with my wife and two daughters, we had a bonus I have not had there before. I love spotting whales on our shores, but having them breach while you enjoy a meal was a new experience for me yesterday. Fitting, to time well spent with my family.
I didn't get a good shot of the whales. Maybe it was just as well my phone battery died after I took this shot of the view from our table. If my phone was charged, I might have spent more time trying to get the perfect shot of the whales, paying less attention to the people I had come to spend time with. The memory will be inked in as the day we put in the offer on our home, so we had a lot to celebrate and we chose the right place.
I have on many ocassions said to people that there is more to Cape Town than Camps Bay. Harbour House is not only a restaurant with a majestic view and an acceptable menu, it is the best of both great food and scenes of beauty. "Exquisite food and beautiful views", they can say that without a doubt!
