I enjoy behavioural science. I am not sure I can define it, as the meaning is different for different people. While I am a strong believer in marketing, I don't believe in lying to people. Seth Godin said it best for me when he said; "Manipulation is I get you to buy something that you regret later. Marketing is I get you to buy something that you're glad you bought".
At the end of the day, you've got to be able to sleep at night that how you packaged your offering leads to a satisfied customer. That being said, you must also be awake when people are selling or marketing to you.
Molly Crocket gives an insightful talk on TED, and as an ordinary consumer, she sure does help to pause the moment and give enough insight for that ordinary consumer in me to be able to be more aware of how I make decisions. This might be insightful for you as well, so enjoy the video.
