Five Days Until My Trip To Cape Town

I have not been here for a while. By here, I am referring to my blog, cheekily called A Penny For Your Thoughts, as all I do is take a penny pincher approach,  in getting space on your mind, when I write here. Well, it is that season again, when I "pivot", and reinvent what I post. This writing business is really not that complicated, but it is!

While it is fun to write about wine, restaurants and the good life, reality can be a real buzz killer in my country. South Africa is a country where the one thing all people have in common, black our white, is our passion! We love with all our hearts, and when we disagree, you will not miss that either.

The students rising up, orchestrating the #FeesMustFall campaign, was a jarring reality check. From a work perspective, it has also been hectic, with the last couple of days having that extra layer of emotional for me, which makes it quite difficult for my analytical left brain function to deal with.

My family still works, and that is good enough for me. That's the one ball I like to be in balance, and I get bent out of shape when it is not. I spent time away from my family this weekend. I put on a brave face, but I miss them... Maya is clearly in the same zone, given her comment on my Instagram post earlier.

Having said that, I still had the privilege of being with family, while here in Joburg for the weekend.

That doesn't change the fact that I am looking forward to my Cape Town trip in five days. I will see my wife, Chomba, and our two lovely daughters, Jordan and Maya.
