A springbok is an animal that I associate with speed and agility. Agility, being the ability to taper your speed and slow down, or accelerate depending on the circumstances. By nature of it, that means adapting to your environment, in order to give yourself the best advantage to win.
Ironically, the South African rugby team, affectionately called The Boks, or Bokke, or AmaBokoBoko are failing to display any of these attributes. They look nothing like their name, The Springboks. With one victory this year (the entire 2015), we will remember 'milestones' like "the first time ever losing to Argentina" or, "the first time ever losing to Japan"!
World rugby needs a strong Springbok team. These Springboks are merely the background to the picture in the frame.
The sheepish smile I have carried all year, has been wiped off of my face. This is not something to rub one's hands with glea for, and push an agenda of "I told you so..." This is a wake up call! The Springboks are just part of the background.
