Nkandla Fence Is Falling Apart

Nkandla Fence Is Falling Apart. "Millions later, Nkandla is falling apart", the headline for Times Live reads. The Sunday Times had a similar headline as their front page story. That's not all that is falling apart in my opinion. The News Industry is what's falling apart for me.

The headlines are becoming more creative and far from the factual content we used to get from the traditional news. The purpose to generate profits through selling the newspaper is way superseding the purpose of keeping people informed.

If the Nkandla fence falling apart is the biggest story that impacts the South African consumer then I think we need to refresh our thinking. We don't have power and that is disrupting businesses, productivity and people's livelihoods. Load sheddibg just happens and we dont understand what the essence if the problem is but Nkandla is more important to understand and talk about.

While I am judgemental of the journalists, the editors and other role players, I can't ignore the fact that people are still buying these newspapers, which means the media companies are giving people what they want.

I can't relate to this new world of newspapers. It was the last outpost after the news on television started losing the plot for me and I stopped watching that. I don't think the Nkandla fence is all that is falling apart!
