The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life

"It's not about timing the markets, it is about time in the markets"! I can't remember where I read this, but it really holds true. Having read Warren Buffett's book it really is quite simple why he chose the name "Snowball". If you think of the snowball effect; what starts off as a small snow flake, rolling downhill gathers momentum and grows into a significant snowball. You can see clearly how Warren Buffett has proved the concept of value investing and the power of compound growth. It is a long read, but well worth it. It is a model you can adopt in anything you dedicate yourself to in life. It is about a vision, time and commitment and not been swayed off track by events that have a short term impact.

One of my biggest takes from the book though is the price he had to pay for his business acumen and success. He really dedicated his time to his work and himself, and much as he loved his family, his lack of investment there (to his family) came at a high price in my opinion. I get the sense that he is a happy, jolly person, but again that ever elusive Work Life Balance equation was at play here.

If you have not read it and are intimidated by the size of the book, it really is something that is easy to get through. Amazon awaits, enjoy the read!
