The joys of this global village we live in. Being a South African wine lover, I have a bias when talking to the quality of the wine we produced in South Africa. I am open to good wines from abroad, and France has given me a good experience with the White wines I have tasted, namely Pouilly-Fumé and now Pouilly-Fuissé. The vineyards of Burgundy clearly appeal to me. Having been impressed again yesterday by a new find, I took to the internet to create context to my drinking experience.
Michel and his wife Eve, have been producing Pouilly-Fuissé since 1988, and I tasted this bottle yesterday. Chomba, my wife and wine partner for well over a decade and a half, called me on Thursday while I was at the office. When she told me the price she had found the bottle at, I wanted her to grab three. She only took two bottles, as she was not sure if there was something wrong with it. I figured the problem was the Checkers Retailer, in Meadowridge, had simply bought in an unknown entity to its regular customers.
Let's just say that today, we will be taking the second bottle on a picnic to share with friends, and next week I will indulge with my brother in another bottle (having enjoyed the first bottle yesterday, I am now in a position to share the joy).
I will still have a couple of bottles in my collection for enjoying later...My birthday is next month, and I am getting a dinner theme that will embrace my French fellow wine lover's delights. I am open to accepting gifts if you have any particular ideas ;-)
I couldn't read about Michel and Eve's wines on their website as it is in French. Roberson Wine was quite informative on Domein Eve Et Michel Rey.
