Food Photography For Beginners

Food photography is in itself a tricky art. When I go out to eat, I don't have time to take pictures when the meal is served. I am more eager to tuck in and give my taste buds the experience my eyes are having. Add that I also don't think that it's cool to whip out your camera while you are at a restaurant,  taking pictures of the food as if... "I don't know what".

At home on the other hand, when I have cooked, or Chomba,  Maya or Jordan have cooked, I am always eager to get the camera and capture the moment. I am lucky enough that we are a household that likes to cook. We are also a household that likes to capture the moment in pictures.  We are also a household that uses social media.

I am glad that I have moved away from the belief system that only professional chefs should share pictures of their food online. After all, what is the point of taking pictures, if you are not going to tell the story.

We all have a story to tell, including the one about a quick meal grass fed steak you make for dinner sipping on some good South African red wine from the Cape winelands.
