Fish Hoek beach was the final activity of a day that felt like I had fourty eight hours to experience. We had an exquisite three course lunch at Myoga, a new age restaurant within the Vineyard Hotel And Spa. I say new age as it's hard to define given the classical decor that is stayed in terms of the white table cloth finish, and yet they have an open plan kitchen, giving it that modern relaxed contrast. It is Mike Basset's venture, an award winning chef. The food was a work of art, and while I wanted to take photographs, I felt it interfered with my ability to enjoy the meal, so you will have to take my word for it, or better yet, go taste it for yourself.
Myoga means Ginger Blossom in Japanese. This was the adult time out, as Chomba and I were with Vonda and Lyall, while the kids were entertained at Vonda's house.
The afternoon was rounded off with a drive out to Fish Hoek beach, having picked up all the children and dressed down to swimwear. With the temperature at 34 degrees when we left lunch, it was no surprise that the beaches in Cape Town would be full. We found a spot, and as usual I sat on my Director's chair and read, while everyone enjoyed the dip in the relatively warmer water of False Bay. With hardly any wind, it was calm and a pleasant way to end a glorious day in Cape Town.
