It's Always Darkest Before Dawn

It's always darkest before dawn.  I have heard this phrase many times,  and I get it.
I just don't quite connect with it given the meaning and depth of the statement. 
I wonder if I was born at night or morning darkness? 
I wonder if I was born in daylight?

Well, I do know I am more of an evening person.
Why that's the preference I could not say for sure.
What I also know is that the sun is always there,  just not always visible.
Whether you see darkness or light, as a bad thing or a good thing,  you can't help but marvel...

It's always darkest before dawn... But the light always shines in the darkness!
