A Beach For Every Season

On a recent trip to Florida I went to St. Pete Beach,  as one does after a conference. I was blown away by how still the water was. It almost felt like I was looking at a huge lake. The beach sand was soft and white, ashy in feel under your feet.

While it was not summer (I was there in April), there were people on the beach, fitting of a Florida Autumn day (or Fall as one would say in the USA) which felt more like any summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

South Africa has a fair share of blue flag beaches, signifying a high level of water quality, safety, facilities and cleanliness. If I look at Camps Bay beach though, a popular strip and famous for celebrity spotting, the waves are very visible.

All the South African beaches be it East Coast or West, have waves that growing up here, you would assume is the norm. The above image was taken in winter (July in Camps Bay).

The world over, there is a beach for every reason and a beach for every season. If you don't travel outside of your borders, you might just miss it.
