A slogan that is so powerful, has become meaningless as a lack of leadership and effectiveness has made the government and ANC the punching bag and blame factor for everything that is not working in this country. It really is sad that education today, is still in the mess that it is. I dare say that education today is giving less to those that cannot afford it than the structurally weak system the National Party implemented during the Apartheid era. At least I knew why the National Party had an agenda to keep the masses down through Bantu Education.
What then is the excuse for the ANC to have a deteriorating education system? How do they benefit if people are a lot less capable of thinking and questioning the way things are? I was blown away by COSATU criticising the PIC for investing in Private School Education initiatives (initiatives which are targeted to benefit the upliftment of Blacks to the Middle Class). I can't say I was surprised, merely ashamed. I was not surprised as they too are canvassing for votes and support, so they also have a vested interest in a certain constituent being kept down in the dumps.
This Blog post by Leah nails it for me, "If you keep a population uneducated, they won’t ask questions". Click through to read it, and tell me what you think? http://www.thefridafactor.com/2012/07/dumb-by-default.html
What does the ANC mean when they say "together we can do more"? How are we making the gap between the haves and have nots smaller? There was mention of Bastille Day celebrations yesterday, and for those that studied history, there was a fundamental catalyst to the French Revolution and that was people having nothing, while watching the few minority that seemed to have it all. So while I am in agreement with the post by Leah, and do believe there is an incentive to keep the masses uneducated, what worries me more is I don't have a plan that can reverse this mess.
"Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity" ~ Martin Luther King Jr. Together we can do more, and that does not have to depend on the government. It's one thing to know the answer, but the genius lies in knowing the how. I would like to hear your thoughts? Can we really do more together?
