What Is Creativity?

Bob Sutton gives a good explanation of creativity based on a simple common denominator. Creativity has a theme of doing new things with old things. It's not as simple as doing something new. In fact some dare say "new and improved", which is a contradiction as it can't be improved if it's new as it did not exist before to be improved upon. It is either new or it is improved.

Being creative is not about coming up with something new for the sake of creativity as that is not effective. There is no point in doing something if it is not going to make for a better offering. Most creative people were simply looking to make things better.
